Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) of DKI Jakarta Province has recorded 7,911 new arrivals entering Jakarta up to 19 April 2026.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Dukcapil Service, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, explained that this data collection has been ongoing since 25 March until the end of April 2026 through outreach and door-to-door services for registering new arrivals post-Lebaran 2026 across all administrative cities and the Thousand Islands Regency.

“The data is dynamic and will continue to be updated as the registration process proceeds until the end of April 2026,” he stated in a release in Jakarta on Sunday.

Denny said that Jakarta, as Indonesia’s economic centre, remains attractive to people from outside the region who come after Lebaran to seek work in the capital.

“Based on the incoming data, more than 57 percent of the new arrivals are in the productive age of 20-39 years,” he added.

According to him, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is not conducting justice operations but is taking a humane approach through coordination with mayors, regents, sub-district heads, village heads, and RT/RW administrators.

“Accompanied by outreach to residents and door-to-door registration services for new arrivals in residential areas and at all Dukcapil service counters in DKI Jakarta,” he said.

“For residents who are only temporarily staying in Jakarta, they are urged to register as non-permanent residents at the sub-district level Dukcapil service counters or Sub-District Dukcapil Offices according to their domicile. For those with time constraints, non-permanent resident registration can also be done through the Digital Population Identity,” Denny stated.

Population data collection is a crucial instrument in formulating social and economic development policies (data-driven policy) to devise strategies, determine priority scales, and prepare infrastructure carrying capacity such as public transportation, health services, education, and other public services.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that post-Lebaran urbanisation can be more controlled, so that the presence of new arrivals provides positive contributions to the capital’s economy.

The public can monitor arrival data in their area through the official Dukcapil DKI Jakarta website at https://kependudukancapil.jakarta.go.id under the “Post-Lebaran Arrivals” menu.

New arrivals in Jakarta are encouraged to handle their civil registration administration at Dukcapil service counters at the village, sub-district, or administrative city/regency levels.

All services are free of charge. In addition, Dukcapil is also opening additional SaPa (Saturday Civil Registration Services) on the third week of each month, namely on Saturday (18/4) at all Dukcapil service point counters.
