The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, together with Bekasi Regency, has shown concern for the families of the victims of the KRL Commuter Line accident at Bekasi Timur Station some time ago. The handover of civil registration documents and condolence payments took place at the Bekasi Regent’s Office, in the Bekasi Regency Government Office Complex, Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (6/5/2026). Acting Regent (Plt) of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, explained that the handover of documents is not merely about providing assistance, but a manifestation of the state’s presence for the people. “It’s not just documents and condolence payments, but concrete evidence that the state is present. We appreciate the Directorate General of Dukcapil and the regional Dukcapil Service for their quick and responsive issuance of civil registration documents,” he stated in a press release on Friday (8/5/2026). According to Asep, Bekasi Regency also provided a grief condolence payment of Rp 10 million. This follows assistance from Jasa Raharja and BPJS Employment, which is in the process of being distributed to the victims’ families. Director General of Dukcapil at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Teguh Setyabudi, conveyed deep condolences while emphasising the importance of civil registration documents for every citizen. He underlined that civil registration documents are crucial, from family cards (KK), electronic resident identity cards (KTP-el), to death certificates. “In various disasters, Dukcapil is present to assist in issuing documents so that victims’ families remain protected administratively. Thank you to the regional Dukcapil Services and other regional apparatus organisations that have been quick to help,” said Teguh when symbolically handing over the civil registration documents to the victims’ families.
