Dukcapil Accelerates Population Data Collection in Nabire, Targeting 10,000 Residents

The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs is accelerating the arrangement of population data in Central Papua Province through a mobile service programme. The initiative, known as the Rebranding Dukcapil programme through the ‘Jemput Bola’ (Pick-up) Population Administration service, is targeting approximately 10,000 residents who do not yet possess an electronic ID card (KTP-el). The goal is to ensure that all citizens can access public services and government programmes.

Member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Komarudin Watubun, alongside the Regent of Nabire Mesak Magai, is overseeing the programme. Komarudin explained that updating population data is a crucial foundation for ensuring government programmes are precisely targeted, as data for social assistance recipients often does not match the official population database.

‘There were 10,000 scholarships proposed, but after verification, only around 2,000 to 3,000 passed. Therefore, all data must be integrated with the official Dukcapil data so that aid is truly received by those entitled to it,’ Komarudin said. He added that population documents have now become a basic necessity for the public, whether for obtaining social assistance (bansos) or accessing various public services, including education, transportation, and land certificate processing. ‘Now, to buy a ticket you need an ID card. To process a land certificate, you also need population data. The same goes for social assistance, everything requires valid data,’ he stated in Jakarta on Sunday (26/7/2026).
