Dudung visited the MUI in his new capacity appointed by President Prabowo Subianto to bridge communication between the government and religious figures. “Yes, this visit is truly extraordinary in my view, which is why I am present as a new official in the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) that can represent the government,” Dudung said in a press statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). Dudung explained that the main focus of the visit was to absorb aspirations from the ulama so they could be forwarded directly to the national leadership. He also affirmed his commitment to follow up on that input. “I am listening to the suggestions and input from the ulama. And then we will report it to Mr President; there are many important things that I received earlier,” he stated. “Of course, these aspirations are accommodated and then conveyed; my duty is to convey or carry out to Mr President the things that are currently felt by the community,” he continued. In addition to gathering aspirations, Dudung highlighted an important message from MUI General Chairman Anwar Abbas during the meeting. That message concerned the importance of maintaining national harmony in society. “One more thing from KH Anwar, the MUI Chairman, is the importance of togetherness, maintaining unity and integrity, guarding the mouth to avoid mutual hatred, belittling, and slandering, so that the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia remains preserved,” he revealed. Dudung emphasised that achieving national stability is not the task of one party alone, but the responsibility of all elites and national figures. “It is our shared responsibility, the government as well as the Indonesian Ulema Council, to ensure that the stability of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia remains maintained,” he said. In addition to Anwar Abbas, the meeting was attended by MUI General Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar who joined virtually, MUI Deputy General Chairman KH Cholil Nafis and KH Marsudi Syuhud, MUI Fatwa Division Chairman Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh, and MUI Infokomdigi Division Chairman Masduki Baidlowi. Also present were MUI Economy Division Chairman M Azrul Tanjung, MUI Da’wah Division Chairman KH Abdul Manan Ghani, MUI Fatwa Methodology Division Chairman Buya Gusrizal Gazahar, MUI Foreign Relations Division Chairman Prof Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, and MUI Sharia Economy Division Chairman KH Sholahudin Al Aiyub.
