Dudung stresses comprehensive development in Papua, reaching grassroots communities
Timika, Central Papua (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman has stressed that development in Papua must be comprehensive and reach people at the grassroots level.
Speaking during a working visit to Timika, Mimika Regency, Central Papua, on Tuesday, Dudung said the visit was intended to reinvigorate coordination and collaboration between local governments, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police (Polri) and all stakeholders to accelerate development in Papua.
“President of the Republic of Indonesia has directed that development, particularly in Papua, must be comprehensive and reach the grassroots. This is what I am here to ensure. My task is to coordinate all relevant institutions and assess developments in the region,” he said.
Security is one of the key factors in supporting and ensuring that all development processes in Papua proceed smoothly.
Dudung also urged all task forces and TNI-Polri personnel serving in Papua to carry out their duties and responsibilities by putting the public interest above personal or group interests.
“Be loyal to the Red and White [the national flag]. The TNI and Polri come from the people, are by the people and are for the people; everything must therefore be based on the people’s interests. Be soldiers who put the public interest above the interests of any group,” Dudung said.
He also encouraged task forces and TNI-Polri personnel to adopt a people-centred approach and engage all elements of society in working together to make Papua more advanced and successful.
“That is the message from the President that I need to convey. I hope that, going forward, local governments, the TNI-Polri and all related parties will share a common purpose: serving the Red and White, the nation and the state,” he said.
During his visit to Mimika, Dudung also held a coordination meeting with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the governor, regents and TNI-Polri officials.
He visited the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP) in Limau Asri Timur, SP 5, Iwaka District, and gave a briefing to Papua task-force personnel and the Third Joint Defence Regional Command (Kogabwilhan III) at the headquarters of Infantry Battalion 754/Eme Neme Kangasi.
Dudung was accompanied by Third Joint Defence Regional Command chief Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, XXIX/Mambruk Military Regional Command chief Major General Aminton Manurung, Damai Cartenz 2026 Operations chief Police Inspector General Faizal Rahmadhani, and Central Papua Police chief Police Brigadier General Jermias Rontini.
