JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Dudung Abdurachman, admitted to receiving a report from one of the deputy heads of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) that there are many disparities in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

“Even the Deputy Chair of the BGN came to my office. In a manner of speaking, there are already many disparities that he has seen, and even over a thousand (MBG kitchens) have been suspended,” Dudung said after a surprise inspection of SPPG in Kebon Jeruk and Petamburan, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

Dudung did not deny that disparities in MBG could occur extensively, given that the programme has only recently started.

Dudung merely emphasised that the government must work hard in implementing the MBG programme so that these problems can be resolved.

“But do not let this become widespread. That is what I mean. This is why we are continuously striving to oversee the President’s programme to the maximum,” Dudung said.

This former Army Chief of Staff will also conduct frequent surprise inspections at several SPPG facilities.

“In other words, we cannot take this lightly. So it turns out there is indeed truth to it, and in my view, this must be fixed immediately and evaluated as soon as possible,” Dudung said.

“Because if, for example, it is not evaluated soon and left like this, imagine rubbish piling up for a week. Now I am calling the local RT, do not take it lightly. One day, poisoning could occur, and children would become victims. This is what we do not want,” he added.

During the inspection at the two SPPG facilities today, Dudung found several serious issues, particularly related to cleanliness, kitchen management, and food health standards.

Dudung assessed that the separation between dirty and clean areas is a basic principle in food kitchen management.

Therefore, he threatened that SPPG kitchens that do not meet standards must be improved soon, or they will be closed.

“If it cannot be fixed soon, just close it immediately. I will convey this to the BGN,” Dudung emphasised.
