Dudung Proposes to Parliament that KSP Budget be Separated from State Secretariat

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chief of Staff to the President (KSP), Dudung Abdurachman, has proposed to Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) that the KSP budget be established as a separate entity, no longer under the Ministry of State Secretariat.

Dudung stated that the KSP is tasked with overseeing all national priority programmes and bridging coordination issues experienced by various ministries. Given the magnitude of these responsibilities, the KSP currently faces significant budgetary limitations.

“The KSP budget must be independent so that it is no longer under the State Secretary. I hope the Chairman of Commission XIII can mediate this for us. Ultimately, the KSP works for the sake of the nation and the state,” said Dudund during a working meeting with Commission XIII of the DPR RI at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He noted that the KSP receives an annual budget of approximately Rp108 billion, but 90 per cent of this is allocated to employee salaries. Meanwhile, the budget for working visits for oversight duties amounts to only Rp3 billion per year, which is divided among four deputies.

Dudung revealed that he recently intended to travel to Palembang, South Sumatra, to resolve issues regarding the development of a fishing village. However, due to budget constraints, he had to use his personal funds for the trip. He emphasised that such oversight requires adequate funding, noting, “I have to travel there, for example, by plane, which is true.”

He further explained that the KSP’s operational focus involves monitoring data-based programmes, accelerating the resolution of implementation obstacles, managing strategic national issues, and preparing recommendations for the President to serve as a basis for decision-making. In its execution, the KSP ensures that any emerging obstacles are detected early, coordinated with relevant ministries and agencies, and followed up until executable solutions are reached.

“The KSP also believes that synergy between the government and the DPR RI is a vital factor in strengthening the implementation of national priority programmes, through support in regulation, budgeting, and oversight functions,” he added.
