Dudung Admits Using Personal Funds for Duties, Requests KSP Budget be Separated from State Secretariat
Jakarta, VIVA – The Chief of Staff to the President (KSP), Dudung Abdurachman, has requested that his agency’s budget be separated and no longer placed under the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) RI. This was disclosed by Dudung while attending a meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
“I told my colleagues earlier, just as General Sudirman’s wife had to sell jewellery to fund his guerrilla warfare, we are in a similar position; there is no such thing as a free lunch. This means we need a budget, Sir, we need a budget, and my colleagues have expressed this today. Therefore, the KSP budget must be independent and no longer under the State Secretariat,” said Dudung.
He expressed hope that the members of Commission XIII of the DPR RI would consider the KSP’s budgetary needs. “Hopefully, the Chairman can bridge this for us. Ultimately, we in the KSP serve the nation and the state,” he added.
Furthermore, he admitted to having used his personal funds to carry out his duties as KSP, as the funds allocated through the State Secretariat were insufficient. “I once intended to travel to Palembang to investigate issues in a fishing village. Due to a change in schedule, I was called by the President and my flight was postponed. My secretary told me, ‘Mr Dudung, this must be paid for with personal funds, because the budget data only covers this much’,” he recounted.
He further explained that the Presidential Staff Office plays a role in overseeing the implementation of national priority programmes assigned by President Prabowo Subianto. He emphasised that the KSP does not take over the technical duties or authority of other ministries or agencies, but rather ensures that all programmes run according to the targets and directives of President Prabulating.
“The KSP’s work direction involves data-based monitoring, accelerating the resolution of obstacles in programme implementation, managing strategic national issues, and preparing recommendations for the President as a basis for decision-making,” he stated.
Dudung ensured that any problems arising regarding national priority programmes can be detected early, so they can be followed up by the relevant ministries and agencies. Additionally, the KSP oversees the implementation of national priority work programmes to ensure all strategic government programmes run in an integrated, targeted manner and provide real benefits to the community.
