Dudung Abdurrachman to Launch 24-Hour Complaints Post, Analyst: If Possible, 26 Hours
Jakarta - The Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Dudung Abdurrachman, plans to open a 24-hour public complaints service. This step is viewed as an effort by the government to improve communication with the public, which has often faced criticism. Political analyst from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Adi Prayitno, even suggested that the service should operate for more than 24 hours. “If I’m not mistaken, Mr Dudung’s statement yesterday, right after his inauguration, was to open a 24-hour complaints service regarding public grievances, aspirations, and protests. If I may suggest, don’t make it 24 hours, like a Madura shop, make it 26 hours. That would be more fitting,” said Adi, during the Gaspol Kompas.com YouTube show on Friday (1/5/2026). According to him, the public has often perceived the government as lacking effective communication channels. Public aspirations, Adi said, frequently stop at social media without clear follow-up. “So far, we’ve often heard that the government doesn’t seem to want to listen to voices from the public. So far, the government seems to stop at criticism on social media and then those aspirations have no route or channel,” he stated. With the 24-hour complaints service, Adi hopes the KSP can become a more active bridge between the public and the government. Besides accommodating aspirations, the KSP is also expected to ensure that every report is followed up by the relevant ministries or agencies. Adi sees Dudung’s appointment as KSP as related to efforts to strengthen internal government coordination and communication. “Because so far, for about a year and a half, the government has been running, we’ve also often heard statements from Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Agency Heads who seem to have done so many things in their respective fields, but it doesn’t reach the public,” said Adi. According to Adi, Dudung is considered to have the capacity in terms of networks and authority to carry out that function. This is deemed important so that communication between the KSP and officials in ministries/agencies runs effectively.
