Dudung Abdurachman: Prabowo Demands Firm Legal Action in Bandung False Imprisonment Case

Presidential Chief of Staff General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman stated that President Prabowo Subianto is paying close attention to the case of false imprisonment and violence against a woman identified as YTR in Bandung Regency. According to Dudung, the President has requested that the case be handled in accordance with the prevailing legal provisions. “His message is that it should be processed according to the applicable law, and he cares deeply about this incident,” Dudung said after visiting the victim at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung on Thursday (25/6/2026). Dudung assessed that the actions of the suspect, Taufik Hidayat, had exceeded the boundaries of humanity. He noted that the victim’s condition reflected the severity of the suffering she endured during the confinement. “Personally, frankly, seeing her condition earlier, this is beyond the limits of humanity, so he deserves the heaviest possible punishment,” he stated. In addition to highlighting the legal process, Dudung also appealed to the public to be more aware of their surroundings. He urged residents to immediately report any suspicious findings to the authorities. This step, Dudung said, is important to prevent similar incidents from recurring. “If you see something suspicious or unusual, immediately report it to the relevant authorities so that things do not happen beyond supervision,” he said. Previously, Taufik Hidayat was named a suspect in the case of false imprisonment and abuse against YTR. The incident allegedly lasted for about three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a number of serious injuries that affected her physical condition. The victim reportedly experienced visual impairment, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk normally.
