New Zealand's Electronic Transaction Technology Ltd., or ETT,
said Tuesday it has reached a 10-year agreement with PT Dua
Berlin Group to distribute its PATLOC operating system for public
access Internet terminals in Indonesia.
ETT said discussions have begun with Indonesian government-
owned telecommunication company Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK)
and several Internet service providers to assist with the rollout
of 20,000 PATLOC-equipped public access terminals.
Dua Berlin Group is negotiating with the government to have
PATLOC accepted as the standard operating system for public-
access Internet terminals, ETT said.
"Such consent will see the figure of 20,000 surpassed and the
rollout schedule accelerated," ETT Chief Operating Officer
Michael Jarjoura said.
Dua Berlin Group is providing funding and infrastructure for
the venture and ETT is providing expertise in the areas of
business development and product distribution.
ETT and Dua Berlin Group also have agreed to promote ETT's
electronic payment and security products to government
departments, businesses and financial institutions.
"There exists in Indonesia an immediate need to upgrade the
banking, financial and government services networks in payments
and electronic transactions," Jarjoura said.
