DTW Jatiluwih Plans Two Major Events to Attract Tourists
Management of the Jatiluwih District Tourism Destination (DTW) in Penebel District, Tabanan, Bali, has prepared two major events to attract both domestic and international tourists, amid various negative tourism issues. John Ketut Purna, Operational Manager of DTW Jatiluwih, stated in Denpasar on Wednesday, 27 May 2026: ‘We have two activities planned: Jatiluwih Festival and Bali Tourism Run. We hope these events will benefit the local community around Jatiluwih; that is our goal.’ The events aim to restore Tabanan’s tourism reputation, particularly DTW Jatiluwih, and positively impact local micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The Jatiluwih Festival, part of the Ministry of Tourism’s 2026 Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) calendar, is scheduled for 20 June 2026. The ministry encourages tourist participation, though John expressed concerns about overcrowding due to limited parking space, despite a target of 7,000 attendees. The Bali Tourism Run 5K will take place the following day, 21 June 2026, with 600 participants registered against a target of 2,000. John remained optimistic about meeting the goal, citing a 40-day preparation period despite other concurrent events. He also mentioned a proposed international running event from DTW Tanah Lot to DTW Ulun Danu, ending at DTW Jatiluwih, discussed with Maybank Run management but not yet realised. Current daily tourist numbers at DTW Jatiluwih range from 700 to 1,000, predominantly Australian, Indian, and Chinese nationals.
