DTKJ Proposes Weekly to Monthly Transjakarta Subscription Tickets

The Jakarta Transport Council (DTKJ) has proposed that Transjakarta offer several subscription ticket options with validity periods of seven days, 14 days, and one month. DTKJ DKI Jakarta Chairman Sugihardjo stated that the subscription ticket scheme is expected to make things easier for the public while saving transport costs for passengers who regularly use Transjakarta, particularly in light of a planned fare increase. ‘DTKJ also proposes the implementation of Transjakarta subscription fares, namely Rp200,000 for one month, Rp90,000 for 14 days, and Rp45,000 for seven days,’ said Sugihardjo in Jakarta on Thursday (9/7). In addition to subscription tickets, DTKJ is also proposing a time-based fare system. For Transjakarta services within the DKI Jakarta area covering bus rapid transit (BRT), non-BRT, and Mikrotrans, the fare is proposed at Rp5,000 with a three-hour validity period. This means passengers can switch between Transjakarta services for three hours without having to pay another fare, rather than the current system which is valid for a single journey. Meanwhile, for Transjabodetabek services, DTKJ is proposing a fare of Rp10,000 with a three-hour validity period. This service includes Transjabodetabek, Transjakarta, Mikrotrans, and the Airport Bus. With these proposals, the public is expected to feel greater benefits if the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government decides to increase Transjakarta fares. Sugihardjo said his party considers a fare adjustment necessary because the Transjakarta fare of Rp3,500 has not changed since 2005. Over the past 21 years, Sugihardjo noted, the cost of living has continued to rise, as has the Transjakarta service network, which now covers approximately 93 percent of Jakarta. Nevertheless, DTKJ stressed that any future fare increase must be balanced with service improvements that are genuinely felt by the public. ‘Whatever fare increase is eventually decided, DTKJ proposes added value in service improvements that are directly felt by the community, whether in the form of extended ticket usage time or more integrated service expansion,’ said Sugihardjo.
