The Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) has proposed an adjustment to Transjakarta service tariffs. The council is suggesting a fare of Rp5,000 for a single journey across all Transjakarta services within the city, including BRT, non-BRT, and Mikrotrans. DTKJ Chairman Sugihardjo stated that the council had conducted a study before arriving at this figure. According to him, the proposed fare remains within the range of 10.4 per cent of total household expenditure, making it still within reasonable limits. ‘I have calculated it, and a fare of Rp5,000 is still very reasonable, around 10.4 per cent of household expenditure,’ he said at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (3/7/2026). In addition, the DTKJ is pushing for the implementation of a subscription tariff for Transjakarta users. This subscription tariff would be offered at a special price, making it cheaper than the accumulated daily fares. Sugihardjo noted that the average person works 25 days a month, meaning their monthly transport costs would amount to Rp250,000. The subscription tariff proposed by the DTKJ is Rp200,000 per month.
