The Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) has proposed a fare adjustment for public transport in Jakarta, setting a flat rate of Rp5,000 for integrated services within the city. DTKJ Chairman Sugihardjo stated that the council has conducted a study on the single fare, which would apply to TransJakarta services integrated with Mikrotrans, BRT, and non-BRT routes. He explained that although the BRT fare would increase from Rp3,500 to Rp5,000, passengers who currently pay multiple times when switching services would benefit. “If previously it was Rp3,500 for BRT and then you connect to a non-BRT service, you would pay Rp3,500 twice, totalling Rp7,000. With the new scheme, you pay Rp5,000 and can use any service,” Sugihardjo elaborated at City Hall on Friday. In addition to the inner-city fare, DTKJ has also proposed a TransJabodetabek fare adjustment of Rp10,000. Under this scheme, TransJabodetabek passengers would also be able to use TransJakarta services within an integrated fare system. Sugihardjo added that the council is pushing for integration not only among road-based transport modes but also with the LRT and MRT. He noted that the proposal is still in the study phase and has not yet been finalised. He stressed that any fare adjustment must be accompanied by improvements in service quality to ensure public comfort when using public transport.
