DTKJ proposes Rp200,000 monthly subscription fare for Transjakarta

The Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) has proposed a monthly subscription fare of Rp200,000 for Transjakarta bus services to make commuting costs more affordable for daily users. DTKJ Chairman Sugihardjo explained that the subscription scheme is being proposed alongside a plan to adjust the regular Transjakarta fare to a flat rate of Rp5,000 for BRT, non-BRT, and Mikrotrans services. “We are pushing for a subscription fare. Many cities abroad have it,” Sugihardjo said after the inauguration of DTKJ officials for the 2026-2029 period at Jakarta City Hall on Friday. Under the proposed scheme, the monthly subscription would offer a 20 percent discount compared to paying the daily flat fare. The calculation is based on the assumption that a commuter makes two trips per day over 25 working days, which would total Rp250,000 at the regular rate. Sugihardjo noted that feedback has also prompted the council to consider introducing weekly and bi-weekly subscription options to provide more flexibility and lower costs for users. He stressed that the proposal is still part of a broader DTKJ study on simplifying public transport fares in Jakarta and will be discussed with the government, transport operators, and other stakeholders before any final decision is made.
