JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Shares of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) and PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) are at risk of being removed from the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) index. Both are categorised under high shareholding concentration (HSC), which has become a primary issue in the evaluation of the global index. In its latest review for May 2026, MSCI continues to uphold restrictions on Indonesian shares. One of the reaffirmed policies is the exclusion of shares with high ownership concentration, deemed risky for investment liquidity and accessibility. According to him, this is inseparable from the dominance of DSSA and BREN, which have large market capitalisation (market cap), making their movements significantly influence sector performance as well as the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) overall. “The most affected sectors are energy and infrastructure. This is due to the role of DSSA and BREN, which have very large market capitalisation, so fluctuations in these two shares directly weigh on the performance of their respective sectors and pressure the IHSG’s overall movement,” said Azharys when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (21/4/2026). Shares of DSSA and BREN showed significant pressure in Tuesday’s trading session. DSSA shares closed sharply down 13.15% at Rp 2,840. Throughout the trading, DSSA shares once reached a high of around Rp 3,270 before experiencing deep selling pressure, dropping to around Rp 2,800. Meanwhile, BREN shares also recorded a 7.20% decline to Rp 6,125. Intraday, this share once reached Rp 6,600 before correcting to a low of around Rp 5,975. “Looking at the market dynamics at the opening of trading on 21 April, the weakening shows that the market has actually anticipated or priced in this decision,” he explained.
