DSI Officially Launched, Danantara Chief Assures Previous Export Regulators Will Retain Their Roles
Chief Executive Officer of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, said that although PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) was established through the issuance of a company deed on 1 June 2026, its official launch was only held today, Monday, 24 August 2026. He emphasised that the establishment of DSI marks a new chapter for the governance of national strategic natural resource exports, so that in the future it can be more transparent, professional and provide optimal added value for the Indonesian economy.
Rosan explained that PT DSI was formally established through the issuance of a company deed on 1 June 2026. However, DSI was only officially launched today, after operating for almost two months. “PT DSI began operating by deed on 1 June, and in its role we certainly want it to be managed better, transparently, and also to provide added value,” Rosan said at the launch event for the New Chapter of Natural Resource Export Governance at Wisma Danantara Indonesia, Jakarta, Monday, 24 August 2026. “Not only for our human resources and our natural resources, but also added value for the Indonesian economy as a whole,” he said.
Rosan said that in the initial stage, DSI will only regulate export governance for three national strategic commodities. “Our focus is on coal, palm oil or CPO, and also ferro alloy,” Rosan said.
However, Rosan assured that at this stage, DSI will continue to respect every existing export contract for the three related commodities that was previously concluded. He also assured that these contracts will continue to run normally. “We respect the sanctity of contracts. Long-term contracts, but the nature of DSI at this time is more about evaluating, monitoring, and also ensuring that the most important thing is transparency of the transaction,” Rosan said.
Nevertheless, Rosan stressed that the existence of DSI will not replace the duties of the ministries and agencies that have so far been involved in the export process for the three national strategic natural resource commodities. These include, for example, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Trade, and other related agencies such as Customs.
