A new chapter in the alleged fraud and embezzlement case involving PT Dana Syariah Indonesia (DSI) has heated up. The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has officially detained a key figure behind the company, namely the former Director and founder with initials AS. The detention was carried out by the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of Bareskrim Polri after AS was examined as a suspect. This was revealed by the Head of Dittipideksus Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Police Ade Safri Simanjuntak. “For the sake of the investigation based on Articles 99 and 100 of the Criminal Code, the investigators of Dittipideksus Bareskrim Polri have carried out coercive measures to detain the suspect AS at the Bareskrim Polri Detention Centre,” he said on Friday, 10 April 2026. AS is known to have served as Director of PT DSI from 2018 to 2024. He is also the founder of the company. Before being detained, AS first underwent an intensive examination for approximately seven hours. In that process, the investigators probed statements with dozens of questions. “The examination lasted for approximately seven hours and was completed at 19:00 WIB. In the examination conducted, the investigators posed approximately 50 questions to the suspect AS,” he said. After that marathon examination, the investigators finally decided to detain AS for the next 20 days, effective from Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at the Bareskrim Polri Detention Centre. Ade Safri emphasised that they ensure the handling of this case proceeds professionally and transparently. “We ensure that the investigation of this case will proceed professionally, transparently, and accountably. Professional means procedural and thorough,” he stated. In the development of this case, Dittipideksus Bareskrim Polri has received a total of five police reports. Even the latest report came from a lender representing 146 other victims. The modus operandi used by PT DSI is suspected to be related to the distribution of funds from borrowers or lenders that did not match their intended purpose. As a result of these practices, the number of victims is said to be very massive, reaching around 15,000 people with total fantastic losses estimated to exceed Rp2.4 trillion. Not only AS, the investigators have also named three other suspects in this case. They are the Commissioner and shareholder of PT DSI Arie Rizal (ARL), the President Director and shareholder Taufiq Aljufri (TA), as well as the former Director of PT DSI Mery Yuniarni (MY).
