Dry Season Triggers Forest Fires in Hills Leading to Bromo

The Probolinggo Regency Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) together with Perhutani conducted initial firefighting operations in the Perhutani RPH Sukapura area, Gunung Ringgit Block, Sapikerep Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, on Saturday (25/7/2026). The efforts were made to prevent the flames from spreading to agricultural land and residential areas amidst vegetation that has dried out due to the dry season. Dried vegetation has accelerated the spread of the fire, prompting officers to increase surveillance at several points. The BPBD has urged the public not to engage in activities that could trigger fires, such as burning rubbish or clearing land using fire during the dry season.
