Drunk Man Uses Hide-and-Seek Ruse to Molest Children in South Tangerang

A drunk man caused trouble in Setu, South Tangerang, leading to a mob attack after he allegedly molested children using a hide-and-seek ruse. The incident occurred on Sunday, 24 May 2026, around 4:00 pm WIB. The suspect was apprehended by locals after allegedly attempting theft and molestation.

Incident Start: Claimed to Have Fallen Into Drain

Cisauk Police Chief AKP Dhady Arsya stated that the suspect, identified as A alias R (23), left his rental on Sunday (24/5) afternoon to play in the rain, then claimed to have fallen into a drain and been swept away by the current.

Modus: Hide-and-Seek Trick

Dhady Arsya explained that the suspect, A alias R, allegedly attempted molestation by inviting the children to play hide-and-seek. In his statement to police, the drunk man claimed he fell into a drain and was carried by the current. He then saw children playing in the rain. Arriving at the scene due to the drain current, A alias R saw children playing and invited them to play hide-and-seek. During the game, the suspect allegedly attempted molestation by grabbing the victim’s trousers. The child screamed, drawing the attention of nearby residents. A immediately fled but was later apprehended by locals.

Attempted Theft of Resident’s Phone

Before being apprehended, A entered a resident’s home and stole a phone, but was chased back by locals. Officers arrived at the scene and secured the suspect, who was injured from the mob attack. The suspect and evidence were taken to Cisauk Police Station. Upon arrival at the scene, Cisauk Police Station officers found A alias R had been attacked by the mob and swiftly transported the suspect to the station. He was later taken to Keranggan Health Centre for treatment due to injuries from the mob.
