Drunk Man in Bima Arrested After Assaulting and Threatening Police Officer

A man with initials SR was arrested by police at his residence in Simpasai Village, Monta District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The 31-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of assaulting and threatening a member of Monta Police Station whilst intoxicated.

“He was arrested last night,” said Kasatreskrim Polres Bima, Deputy Police Commissioner Abdul Malik, on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Abdul Malik revealed that SR assaulted a member of Monta Police Station on the roadside of Simpasai Village on Sunday, 2 March, in the afternoon. Beyond the assault, SR allegedly also threatened the police officer.

According to Abdul Malik, the alleged assault and threat originated when the police officer, accompanied by his wife, witnessed a gathering whilst driving through and passing the incident location. Residents had informed them that the gathering comprised a group of intoxicated individuals who were forcibly demanding money from passing residents.

“As a member of the police force, the victim immediately admonished them and requested that they not obstruct vehicles passing on the road,” added Abdul Malik.

However, SR became emotional upon receiving the admonition. Shortly thereafter, SR immediately grabbed the victim’s neck, causing scratches. Not only that, SR’s associate also challenged the victim to exit the car and made threats to set the police officer on fire.

“At that time, the alleged perpetrator showed no fear, despite knowing that the victim was a member of the police force,” explained Abdul Malik.

According to Abdul Malik, the victim did not resist despite being assaulted and threatened. The victim, he stated, pursued legal channels by reporting the incident to Bima Police Headquarters. The Criminal Investigation Division of Bima Police Headquarters immediately arrested SR at his residence in Simpasai Village.

“At present, SR is undergoing intensive examination at Bima Police Headquarters to be held accountable for his actions,” he concluded.
