Drunk man falls to his death

JAKARTA (JP): A drunken man died in hospital after falling
down a flight of stairs at the Paripurna discotheque on Jl. Hayam
Wuruk, West Jakarta, Wednesday night.

Suherman, 46, a resident of Jl. Petojo Binatu, Central
Jakarta, died at 11:30 p.m. in the Husada General Hospital,
Central Jakarta, after being taken there by the disco's security
staff.

First Sgt. W. Sugarda of the Central Jakarta police precinct
said Suherman died of brain hemorrhaging resulting from the
strong crash when he fell.

"He got drunk and lost his balance. We smelled alcohol on his
breath," Sugarda said.

The police said Suherman, a Ministry of Finance employee, had
gone to the discotheque alone, got drunk and chatted with some of
the other patrons before falling. (04)
