Drunk man allegedly attempted to molest a child during hide-and-seek game in South Tangerang

TANGERANG SELATAN - A 23-year-old man, identified as R, is suspected of attempting to molest a young girl while playing hide-and-seek in Kademangan, Setu, South Tangerang, on Sunday (24 May 2026). The Cisauk police chief, AKP Dhady Arsya, stated that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time. “The suspect consumed alcohol, specifically Balinese arak, around 10:00 WIB in a rental house near the crime scene with his brother,” Dhady said in a written statement on Monday (25 May 2026). “He fell into a drainage channel and was carried away by the current,” he added. The suspect then arrived at the crime scene in Kademangan Bawah village, Setu. There, he saw several children playing and invited them to join a game of hide-and-seek. “According to witness S, during the game, the suspect grabbed the trousers of a nine-year-old girl with the initials K,” he explained. The child screamed, prompting the suspect to flee the scene. Residents present at the scene immediately pursued the suspect. During his escape, the suspect entered a resident’s house and took their mobile phone. Residents then reported the incident to Cisauk Police Station. Upon arrival, the suspect had already been attacked by the mob. Police subsequently evacuated the suspect to the station to prevent further violence from the crowd. As a result of the mob assault, the suspect sustained injuries and was briefly taken to Keranggan Community Health Centre for treatment. Police are currently interviewing witnesses to investigate the alleged child molestation and mobile phone theft.
