Drunk and Disorderly American Deported from Sukabumi

The Sukabumi Immigration Office has deported a 59-year-old American national, identified by the initials ECC, following a report from the Sukabumi City Police regarding a foreigner who was detained by residents in a housing complex for causing a disturbance. The report was received on Wednesday, 29 July, and the deportation was carried out on Friday, 31 July. According to information from the police, ECC was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Following up on the report, immigration officers coordinated with the police and immediately checked the individual’s immigration status. ECC was a holder of a Visa on Arrival. He was detained by residents in the early hours of Wednesday after causing a commotion when he was unable to enter his rented house. Residents reported that ECC attempted to damage facilities by punching the door and fence while shouting at them. After being detained by the community and reported to the Sukabumi City Police, ECC was picked up hours later by Sukabumi Immigration officers and police for further examination. He was deported on Friday evening at 9:00 PM via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on a Qantas Airways flight bound for Los Angeles, United States. The Head of the Sukabumi Immigration Office emphasised that immigration law enforcement will continue to be carried out professionally, proportionally, and in accordance with regulations. He stated that every foreigner in Indonesia is obliged to respect the prevailing laws and norms and to maintain public order, and that any immigration violations will be followed up as a commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and creating a sense of security for the public. He added that the Sukabumi Immigration Office will continue to strengthen supervision of the presence and activities of foreigners through synergy with law enforcement officials, local governments, and the community.
