Drug Traffickers Unmoved by Ramadan as Police Uncover 30 Cases During Fasting Month
Bandung police have successfully dismantled a cannabis distribution network from the Sumatra region intended for distribution in Bandung City in March 2026. Officers secured 9.673 kilograms of cannabis from a rented house on Bojong Koneng Street, Cimenyan, Bandung District and Pasirkaliki Street, Bandung City.
Three suspects with initials RG, NIR and AF were apprehended during the raid. Acting Commander of Bandung City Police (Plt Kapolrestabes Bandung) Senior Commissioner Adiwijaya stated that police have uncovered 30 cases during the Ramadan fasting month with a total of 39 suspects. “These thirty cases comprise 18 methamphetamine cases, 3 dry cannabis cases, 5 synthetic tobacco cases, 1 ecstasy case, and 3 cases of certain illegal medicines,” he said at Bandung City Police Headquarters on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
He stated that authorities seized 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 12 kilograms of cannabis, 456 grams of synthetic tobacco, 696 millilitres of synthetic tobacco substitute, 14 ecstasy tablets, 10,362 illegal medicine tablets, 34 mobile phones, 18 scales and 5 million rupiah in cash. Head of the Narcotics Unit at Bandung City Police (AKBP) Agah Sonjaya stated that the unit dismantled cannabis distribution from Sumatra intended for circulation in Bandung via overland routes.
“Through our intelligence network and investigative results, we were able to apprehend suspects in the Bojong Koneng area,” he said.
