Drug trafficker's car overturns during police chase in Rohil
Police in Rokan Hilir (Rohil) chased a narcotics network, culminating in a vehicle used by a drug trafficker overturning during the escape from pursuing officers. Director of the Narcotics Investigation Department of the Riau Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Putu Yudha Prawira, said the case began after public reports about the widespread sale of methamphetamine in Kampung Kencana, Sei Kundur Hamlet, Balai Jaya, Bagan Sinembah District, Rohil. ‘Opsnal Subdit II teams immediately conducted investigations and raids. We secured two suspects along with methamphetamine weighing about 10 grams,’ said Putu in a statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026). Putu explained that initially his team arrested suspect F (44) in Rohil on Friday (27/3). From his possessions police seized three medium-clear plastic bags and one small bag containing meth, two white boxes containing a total of 30 small meth packets, one grey metallic Toyota Fortuner plate BM-805-MR, one mobile phone, a black bag, and Rp600,000 in cash. Based on interrogation, F admitted obtaining the meth from HM (35). He said he earned Rp14 million for each sale of one ounce. Drug trafficker attempted to flee The team then carried out further development to capture HM, the drug lord. As HM was about to be secured, he tried to flee using a car, leading to a chase with officers. ‘In his attempt to escape, the suspect’s vehicle overturned, allowing us to arrest him,’ Putu said. From HM, police recovered one mobile phone and cash Rp56,476,000 kept in a bank account under another name. HM admitted obtaining meth from a person with the initial RD, who is still under investigation, with a profit of Rp18 million for each sale of one ounce. Urine tests for both suspects returned positive for methamphetamine. Putu emphasised that authorities are continuing to develop the case to uncover the drug distribution network. ‘We will trace up to the top to cut off the chain of drug distribution in Riau,’ he concluded.
