Drug Raid in Central Kalimantan Turns Deadly: One Officer Killed, Two Missing
A drug raid in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan, turned violent, resulting in the death of one police officer and leaving two others missing. The operation, conducted by the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit from Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday, targeted a suspected drug dealer identified by the initials BIO, a repeat offender.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), confirmed the fatality. The fallen officer was identified as Aipda Yudhie Perdana Putra, while Aiptu Sumaryanto and Bripda Nopandri Ramadhana remain unaccounted for. A total of 12 personnel were deployed for the operation, splitting into two teams upon arrival at the location.
Although the primary target was successfully apprehended, the situation escalated when other individuals inside the house, joined by local residents, launched a counter-attack using machetes and homemade firearms. Overwhelmed by the growing mob, the officers were forced to retreat, with some swimming across a river and hiding in the forest to escape the assault. Aipda Yudhie Perdana Putra was later found dead from sharp weapon wounds. Search efforts are ongoing for the two missing officers.
