Drug producer held in Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: After receiving a tip-off from nearby residents, police detained on Friday an alleged drug producer at his residence on Jl. Danau Semayam in West Medan district, an official said.

Chief of Medan Police Col. Hasyim Irianto told reporters on Saturday that along with the alleged man, identified only as M alias Ahua, 27, police seized eight drug making devices, 144 ecstasy pills, 2 packages of shabu-shabu (crystal methampetamine), 13 stamping machines and a pressing machine from his residence.

Hasyim said Ahua admitted during questioning that he produced the drugs by blending paracetamol pills, tranquilizers, flour and other medicines.

"He also confessed to selling the drugs at local night spots," Hasyim added. (01/39)
