The Central Java Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate has exposed a drug trafficking network that utilises bus conductors as couriers. This discovery follows the arrest of a suspect found in possession of crystal methamphetamine at the Banyumanik Toll Gate in Semarang.

The Director of Narcotics Investigation of the Central Java Regional Police, Commissioner Yos Guntur, stated that the operation began following intelligence regarding a crystal meth courier travelling on a bus route from Magetan to Cileungsi. Officers conducted an ambush at the Banyumanik Toll Gate on Thursday, 30 July 2026, and inspected bus passengers, leading to the arrest of DM (30), who works as a bus conductor.

From the suspect, police seized 3.77 grams of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside a candy bottle. Officers also confiscated a digital scale, several plastic clips, and drug paraphernalia. Based on preliminary investigations, DM admitted to obtaining the methamphetamine from an individual with the initials A at a petrol station in Nganjuk, East Java.

According to the suspect, he initially received 15 grams of the drug, which was intended for distribution within the Central Java region. Commissioner Yos noted that drug distribution networks continue to seek various methods to evade authorities, including exploiting public transportation as a means of distribution. For his actions, the suspect faces charges under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, along with other relevant criminal provisions.
