Drug Fugitive Boy Admits to Paying 1.6 Billion Rupiah to Police Officer for Methamphetamine Protection
Jakarta — A drug fugitive identified as Abdul Hamid, alias Boy, has confessed to depositing 1.6 billion rupiah to AKP Malaungi, the former head of the narcotics unit at Bima City Police, in exchange for protection whilst trafficking methamphetamine in the Bima region of West Nusa Tenggara.
Boy made the admission during preliminary questioning after his arrest by a joint task force comprising Subdirectorate IV of the Directorate of Narcotics Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Bureau (Bareskrim Polri) and the NIC Task Force in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, the director of narcotics crime at Bareskrim Polri, stated that the 1.6 billion rupiah was transferred to AKP Malaungi in five instalments between May and September 2025.
“According to A Hamid alias Boy, he deposited 1.6 billion rupiah in the period from May to September 2025 to the narcotics unit head of Bima City Police, AKP Malaungi, to request protection related to methamphetamine trafficking in the Bima area,” Eko said on Friday, 13 March 2026.
The first payment of 400 million rupiah was wrapped in black plastic and left in front of the Bima City Police narcotics office.
The second payment of 400 million rupiah was given when Boy met AKP Malaungi at Lamboade Gym, with the money placed inside the police officer’s vehicle.
The third instalment of 400 million rupiah was again left in front of the narcotics office.
The fourth and fifth payments were each 200 million rupiah.
Boy was apprehended by the Bareskrim Polri task force on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at approximately 20:00 Western Indonesia Time in a warehouse on Jalan Sungai Raya Dalam, Gang Radja, Kubu Raya District, Pontianak.
The arrest followed intelligence regarding Boy’s whereabouts. He was listed as a wanted fugitive in a narcotics case.
“The joint task force from Subdirectorate IV and the NIC Task Force proceeded to Pontianak, West Kalimantan to conduct observation and surveillance of the target,” Santoso explained.
After moving between locations, Boy was eventually discovered in a warehouse in the Sungai Raya Dalam area and was immediately taken into custody.
Police seized evidence from the suspect, including 20.4 million rupiah in cash, four driving licences, and identity documents including a national identity card and driving licence in the name of Abdul Hamid.
