Drug dealers arrested in mosque

BOGOR: While most drugs transactions take place in discotheques and other secular places, two drug dealers tried to conduct their business in a mosque here, but were arrested on Saturday evening by police officers who had been monitoring their activities.

One of the dealers, Firdaus, who had received an order from Muhamad Kamal Pasha for 4 kilograms of marijuana, told the buyer to wait at the Great Mosque in the town of Bogor, Bogor Police chief of detectives First. Insp. Fridon said.

Firdaus then called Bachrudin alias Manyak, the drug supplier, and asked him to bring the drug. After he received the marijuana, Firdaus met Kamal at the mosque, while Bachrudin waited at Taman Topi park.

The two were arrested as Firdaus was handing over the marijuana to Kamal.

The police later arrested Bachrudin, and shot him in the leg as he tried to escape.

Bachrudin said he bought the marijuana from Basri, who lives in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, for Rp 1,075,000 per kilogram. He sold it to Firdaus for Rp 1.1 million per kg, while Firdaus sold the marijuana to Kamal at Rp 1.6 million per kg.--JP
