Drug dealer shot dead

JAKARTA: A man was shot to death by the police early on Friday morning for allegedly selling low grade heroine on Jl. Baturaja, Kebon Melati subdistrict, Central Jakarta.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Zenith Nur, was a target of the police as a known criminal. His body was sent to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Central Hospital morgue in Central Jakarta.

The police shot Zenith after he refused to surrender during an attempt to arrest the resident of Cipinang Besar subdistrict in East Jakarta.

Some 100 packages of low grade heroine were found in his blue hat, according to First Insp. Ary Satrian, the chief of Tanah Abang police subprecinct. -- JP
