Drug Dealer in Riau Shot After Attacking Police Officer with Knife
The Riau Police Narcotics Directorate has arrested a man identified as SD, a suspected drug dealer in Tenayan Raya, Pekanbaru. Officers were forced to shoot the suspect after he violently resisted arrest.
The arrest stemmed from a public tip-off that the suspect frequently conducted drug transactions. An undercover buy operation was set up on Jalan Badak Ujung, Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru, on Thursday evening. Around 10:10 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, SD arrived at the agreed location with an associate. When officers moved in to make the arrest, both suspects fought back.
One of the suspects attacked a member of the Sub-Directorate II operations team with a sharp weapon, causing a slash wound to the officer’s abdomen near the navel. Fellow officers at the scene provided immediate backup. Because the suspect continued to resist and posed a danger to the officers, police took firm and measured action, shooting the suspect to subdue and detain him.
From the suspect, officers seized 50 ecstasy pills of various colours and brands stored in a medicine box, along with the cutter knife used to attack the officer and two mobile phones. The other suspect managed to flee and is currently being pursued by police. The injured narcotics officer was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. SD, who sustained gunshot wounds, was also taken to Bhayangkara Hospital before being transferred to the Riau Police Headquarters for questioning. The suspect and the evidence are now secured at the Riau Police Narcotics Directorate for further investigation, while the search for the remaining fugitive continues.
