Drug Dealer Arrested in Tangerang After Hiding 8.22 Grams of Meth in Bathroom Ceiling
A drug dealer identified by the initials As, also known as E (26), has been arrested by the Metro Tangerang City Police after officers found illicit drugs hidden in the ceiling of his bathroom in Sepatan District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Police seized 8.22 grams of methamphetamine.
Sepatan Police Chief, Adjutant Commissioner Fahyami, stated that the arrest followed public complaints about drug trafficking in Kampung Baru Tarikolot, Sepatan District. After conducting an investigation and locating a man matching the description provided by the public, officers immediately made the arrest and conducted an interrogation. The suspect subsequently admitted to frequently distributing illegal substances.
During a search, officers discovered a black plastic bag concealed above the bathroom ceiling. Inside the bag were five plastic clip packets containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine, with a total gross weight of 8.22 grams. In addition to the drugs, police also seized IDR 400,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, and a mobile phone suspected of being used for communication in the transactions.
The suspect told officers that the methamphetamine was leftover stock from his sales and that he obtained the illicit goods from an individual identified as B, who is reportedly currently serving a sentence in a correctional facility. “We are further investigating this information to uncover the distribution network,” the police chief said.
Metro Tangerang City Police Chief, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, stressed that eradicating drug trafficking remains a priority for his department, viewing it as a serious threat to society, particularly the younger generation. “We will not give any space to drug offenders within the jurisdiction of the Metro Tangerang City Police. We will follow up on every piece of information from the public swiftly and professionally to break the chain of drug distribution,” he stated. He also called on the public to play an active role in combating drugs by bravely reporting any suspected abuse or distribution in their neighbourhoods. “Drug trafficking is a common enemy. We urge the public not to hesitate to provide information to the police. The confidentiality of the reporter’s identity will be protected. Through synergy between the community and the police, we can create a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment,” he concluded.
The suspect is currently detained at the Sepatan Police Station and has been charged under Article 114 (2) of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and/or Article 609 (2) letter a of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 2026 on the Adjustment of Criminal Provisions, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
