Drug dealer arrested
North Jakarta police have arrested a man carrying two kilograms of dried marijuana worth Rp 2 million (US$900) through Tanjung Priok port, North Jakarta.
The suspected drug trafficker identified as AR, 29, reportedly told police during questioning that he bought the drug in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, recently for Rp 500,000 and planned to sell it in Jakarta.
AR claimed that this was his first deal, but police officers who have infiltrated the drug buyers network in Jakarta and Aceh know him as a regular dealer.
The arrest was made when an undercover police officer approached AR and used the drug traffickers code meaning he wanted to make a deal. AR was careful about setting up a transaction, but finally agreed to arrange the sale.
When he took the drug to an agreed meeting place, the police arrested him as he got out of a taxi. (22)
