Drug addicts in Bali higher
DENPASAR, Bali: The Antinarcotic Coordinating Commission in
the province said the province needed a rehabilitation center to
help the increasing number of local drug addicts on the tourist
island.
Ketut Robin, chairman of the commission, said here on Monday
that the presence of a rehabilitation center in the city was
urgently needed because the number of drug abusers had increased
dramatically each year.
He did not know the precise number of addicts but he thought
the number had tended to increase over the last few years.
"It is better for the government to seek cooperation with both
local and foreign nongovernmental organizations to seek donations
to establish the rehabilitation center as many other cities have
done," he said.
Robin made the statement after visiting rehabilitation centers
in Jakarta, Bogor and Tangerang. --Antara
