Drought in West Java: BPBD Distributes 7.5 Million Litres of Clean Water

The clean water crisis continues to spread across West Java. To date, the BPBD across West Java has distributed 7,535,800 litres of clean water to affected locations. “The drought and clean water crisis are expanding. We have received reports from 23 affected regencies and cities,” said West Java BPBD Spokesperson Hadi Rahmat on Thursday. The BPBD reported that drought and water shortages have occurred in 294 villages and sub-districts across 133 districts. The number of affected residents has reached 86,888 families or 313,302 individuals. Bogor Regency remains the worst-hit area, with 111 villages across 29 districts affected. The number of residents experiencing a clean water crisis there has reached 41,882 families or 140,532 individuals. Other areas with high severity include Tasikmalaya Regency and Bekasi Regency. Meanwhile, 72 forest and land fires have also occurred, spreading across 17 regencies and cities. The area most frequently experiencing fires is Sumedang, with 12 incidents. Other high-incident areas include Majalengka with 11 events, and Cirebon, Sukabumi, and Bandung Regencies, each with 6 incidents. The fires in West Java have hit 81 villages and sub-districts across 56 districts, with a total burned area reaching 77.51 hectares.
