Drought Hits Seven Regencies and Cities in West Java, Residents Struggle for Clean Water

The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has reported that drought has occurred in seven regencies and cities in West Java during June 2026. Thousands of residents have been affected by the drought and are experiencing difficulties accessing clean water.

BPBD West Java Public Relations Officer Hadi Rahmat stated that the drought has hit Linggamukti Village in Sucinaraja District, Garut Regency. A total of 350 families have been affected and are struggling with clean water shortages, prompting the distribution of aid.

Meanwhile, in Bogor Regency, drought has occurred in the villages of Gunungsari, Parakanmuncang, Kalongliud, Karangtengah, Sukajaya, and Harkatjaya. A total of 3,092 residents have been affected.

“The cause of the incident is cited as extreme weather and reduced rainfall. The Bogor Regency BPBD conducted assessments and distributed 5,000 litres of clean water,” he said on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

Additionally, the drought has struck Nagasari Village in Serang Baru District and Ridogalih Village in Cibarusah District, Bekasi Regency. A total of 2,834 residents have been affected. The Bekasi Regency BPBD has carried out assessments, coordinated with local authorities, and sent clean water aid to the affected locations.
