Drought Expands in West Java, Depok Faces Clean Water Crisis in Four Sub-Districts

Drought continues to spread across West Java. The latest reports received by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) indicate a clean water crisis has hit four sub-districts across three districts in Depok City. BPBD spokesperson Hadi Rahmat stated on Monday (3/8) that the disaster has affected 404 families, totalling 1,740 individuals, and that the agency has distributed 28,000 litres of clean water. The affected sub-districts include Bedahan in Sawangan District, Kemiri Muka in Beji District, and Cipayung and Cipayung Jaya in Cipayung District. To date, BPBD West Java has recorded that the drought has spread to 17 cities and regencies, with residents in 207 villages and sub-districts across 95 districts experiencing a clean water crisis. BPBD units across West Java have dispatched a total of 4.2 million litres of clean water, with the number of affected victims reaching more than 60,000 families or over 214,000 people.
