Drought-Affected Residents in Bogor Increase to 140,000

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded an increase in the number of residents affected by the water crisis resulting from drought in Bogor Regency, West Java. Latest data indicates that approximately 140,000 residents are now impacted.

“The estimated impact of the drought or water crisis is 140,724 people,” said the Head of Emergency and Logistics at BPBD Bogor Regency, M. Adam Hamdani, on Saturday (1/8/2026). The data covers the period from 10 June to 31 July 2026. Currently, the number of sub-districts affected by the drought has reached 28.

“The impact spans 104 villages or wards, with 267 distribution points established,” he added. The agency has also been distributing clean water assistance to the affected residents. To date, the total amount of clean water distributed has reached 1,142,000 litres.

Previously, last week, BPBD recorded that 24 sub-districts in the Bogor Regency area were affected by the drought caused by the dry season, leaving 94,002 residents struggling to access clean water. This figure was recorded between 10 June and 24 July 2026. BPBD stated that hundreds of thousands of litres of clean water have been distributed to the affected areas.
