Drone Technology Cited as Key to Enhancing Agricultural Efficiency
Modernisation is considered one of the primary challenges facing the national agricultural sector amidst a decline in the number of individual farming enterprises. The utilisation of technology, including agricultural drones, is seen as a way to help increase the efficiency and productivity of farming operations.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that the number of individual farming enterprises in 2023 reached 29.34 million units, a 7.42 per cent decrease compared to the 2013 Agricultural Census. This condition highlights the importance of accelerating technology adoption in cultivation activities.
One technology being introduced to support agricultural modernisation is the drone. At the INAGRITEHE 2026 event held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Frogs Indonesia showcased several agricultural drones designed for spraying, fertilising, and precision land mapping.
Adhitya Chandra, CEO of Frogs Indonesia, stated that the use of drones can assist farmers in improving operational efficiency while accelerating the implementation of technology within the agricultural sector. “INAGRITECH 2026 serves as the right momentum to introduce how drone technology can support more efficient and sustainable agriculture. We hope that through this exhibition, more collaborations can be established to encourage wider technology use in Indonesia’s agricultural sector,” Adhitya said in a written statement on Friday (31/7/2026).
During the exhibition, Frogs Indonesia introduced three agricultural drone devices: the Sekar Agri 20L, Sekar Agri 6L, and Srikandi Multispectral. These three devices are designed to support pesticide spraying, fertiliser application, and land condition mapping to assist in cultivation decision-making.
Deputy General Chairman of ALSINTANI, Henry Haryanto, noted that increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector depends not only on land availability but also on the ability to adopt innovation and technology. “The future of Indonesian agriculture does not only depend on vast land, but also on our ability to adopt innovation, drive efficiency, and strengthen cross-sector partnerships from upstream to downstream,” said Henry.
Throughout the INAGRITECH 2026 event, Frogs Indonesia also conducted drone demonstrations to showcase the practical application of this technology in various agricultural activities.
