Public conversation on social media regarding the change of the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) shows a negative sentiment of 47.2 per cent. The public highlighted that the leadership transition from Dadan Hindayana to Nanik Sudaryati Deyang does not align with relevant academic expertise and is politically motivated.

This public sentiment monitoring was conducted by the social media monitoring agency Drone Emprit during the period of Tuesday, 2 June 2026, and Wednesday, 3 June 2026. Drone Emprit noted that the issue of the BGN Head replacement was reported in 3,134 articles, garnering 10,774 comments. The issue was subsequently discussed 11,71<0xA0>1 times across Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

Drone Emprit founder Ismail Fahmi stated that the public doubts Nanik’s academic background in the field of nutrition. This situation has raised suspicions of a politically motivated reshuffle. “Consequently, doubts have arisen regarding the ability to resolve operational and cultural issues within the institution,” said Fahmi in the Drone Emprit report on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

The public also expressed doubt regarding structural changes if institutional transparency is not maintained. Furthermore, the public criticised the series of operational issues within the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. “The public is also urging the government to halt or completely evaluate the MBG programme, stating that the BGN institution has the potential to become the next stage for a corruption scandal,” he added.

Drone Emprit also recorded that 50.5 per cent of the public provided positive sentiment, while 2.3 per cent were neutral. Positive sentiments included appreciation for the President’s decisiveness, the perception that the President is listening to public criticism, the view that the leadership change is a momentum for improving the MBG programme, and support for the Attorney General’s Office’s steps to thoroughly investigate alleged corruption within the BGN. “Furthermore, it is hoped that the new leadership can fix the MBG operations; the MBG programme is believed to have the intention of improving child nutrition if managed correctly,” said Fahmi.

Meanwhile, in online media conversations, positive sentiment stood at 81.3 per cent, negative at 12.6 per cent, and neutral at 6.1 per cent.

President Prabowo Subianto removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the BGN and replaced him with Nanik S. Deyang. The change in BGN leadership was announced by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, at the State Palace on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

One day after the removal, the Attorney General’s Office named the former BGN leaders Dadan Hindayana, Sony Sonjaya, and Lodewyk Pusung as suspects in a corruption case involving the MBG programme. The Director of Investigation of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi, stated that investigators named the three suspects after securing sufficient evidence.

“DH, SS, and LP have been named suspects based on two sufficient pieces of evidence obtained by investigators,” said Syarief during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

The designation of suspects occurred less than 24 hours after the government removed the three from their positions at the BGN. The Prosecutor’s Office also raided the BGN office starting at 02:00 WIB on Wednesday morning. An officer at the location reported that four prosecutor vehicles arrived at the BGN office accompanied by TNI personnel.

Investigators are charging the three suspects under Articles 603 and 604 of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code. Syarief stated that the Attorney General’s Office began investigating the case a week ago, noting that the investigation was upgraded to the suspect stage a few days ago.
