Driving the National Economy: BRI Credit Disbursement Reaches Rp1,646 Trillion, Growing 16.2% in Q2 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, recorded strong credit growth through the end of the second quarter of 2026. Credit disbursement reached Rp1,646 trillion, representing a 16.2% year-on-year (yoy) increase from Rp1,417 trillion during the same period the previous year. This performance resulted in BRI’s credit growth rate exceeding the national banking sector’s recorded growth of 12.7% yoy.
This was announced by BRI President Director Hery Gunardi during a press conference regarding BRI’s Q2 2_026 financial performance at the BRI Head Office, Jakarta, on Monday (31/8). Also in attendance were BRI Deputy President Director Viviana Dyah Ayu R.K., Director of Finance & Strategy Achmad Royadi, Director of Network & Retail Funding Aquarius Rudianto, and Director of Risk Management Ety Yuniarti.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi stated that the credit growth reflects BRI’s solid intermediation in driving the national economy. This achievement also demonstrates the results of the transformation agenda that has been consistently implemented.
“Various BRI transformation agendas are not merely future strategic plans, but have been executed and are showing positive results for BRI’s performance. Business is growing stronger, intermediation is increasing, the non-performing loan ratio is decreasing, and at the same time, this growth has been able to be converted into increased profitability,” said Hery.
This credit growth also drove BRI’s asset growth to reach Rp2,352 trillion, an 11.7% yoy increase. Meanwhile, BRI’s ability to disburse credit was supported by the growth of Third-Party Funds (DPK), which reached Rp1,581 trillion, a 6.7% yoy increase compared to Rp1,482 trillion at the end of Q2 2025. The growth in DPK was accompanied by an improved funding structure, reflected in the CASA ratio increasing from 65.5% to 67.6% during the same period.
Amidst ongoing credit expansion, BRI continues to maintain the quality of its credit growth. The Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio improved from 3.0% in Q1 2026 to 2.9% in Q2 2026. This improvement was also accompanied by a decrease in the Cost of Credit from 3.4% to 3.1%, an improvement of approximately 30 basis points.
Hery stated that BRI is not only pursuing credit growth but is also ensuring that such expansion results in sustainable asset quality and profitability.
“Growth is back, strong. We continue to maintain the quality of growth from a risk perspective and are optimistic about the future,” said Hery.
With strong fundamentals and an increasingly clear transformation direction, BRI is optimistic about continuing this positive momentum, while prioritising the principles of prudence, good governance, and maintaining a balance between growth, profitability, and sustainability, so that BRI can continue to create value for all stakeholders and provide the best contribution to the Indonesian economy.
