Driver's Slipper Catches on Accelerator, Free School Meal Van Crashes into Resident's House in Pati
The driver intended to park the vehicle, but the slipper he was wearing became stuck on the accelerator pedal. As a result, the car continued to move forward and crashed into the front part of a resident’s house, said Kayen Police Chief AKP Parsa in a written statement to reporters. Parsa stated the accident caused damage to the front door and several household furnishings inside the building. There were no fatalities, and the loss is estimated to be around Rp 10 million. No residents of the house were victims in the incident; material losses from the incident are estimated to reach around Rp 10 million. Parsa said the matter has been resolved through deliberation. It was stated that the nutritional fulfilment service unit (SPPG) will compensate for the losses resulting from the accident. Parsa explained the incident occurred when an operational meal delivery vehicle belonging to SPPG 133 Sundoluhur Village, Kayen District, was involved in a single-vehicle traffic accident, crashing into a resident’s house on Wednesday (3/6) at around 12.30 WIB. At the time of the incident, Kasmini (60) was not at home. The house was occupied by her uncle, Saliman (91), who was at the location when the incident occurred.
