The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) will hold a National Dhikr and Prayer event at the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, tomorrow. Police have advised the public to anticipate heavy traffic and avoid the vicinity.

“Traffic congestion is expected on the roads surrounding the Monas area. Drivers are advised to avoid these roads or seek alternative routes to prevent vehicle build-up,” stated the TMC Polda Metro Jaya social media account, as reported on Friday (31/07/2026).

Members of the public are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. Police also recommend that those intending to pass through the area or attend the event utilise public transport.

“The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Division, along with joint officers, will provide services and manage traffic situationally to support the smooth running of the event. For those attending the event, the use of public transport is suggested,” continued the TMC Polda Metro Jaya explanation.

It was previously reported that the Ministry of Religious Affairs expects approximately 100,000 participants to attend. The organising committee has confirmed that various operational preparations are being made on the ground.

“We are continuously preparing all operational aspects through close coordination with the State Secretariat, the Indonesian National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Jakarta Provincial Government, and all committee members. Our goal is simple: to ensure all participants can participate in the National Dhikr and Prayer safely, comfortably, orderly, and with devotion,” said the Director of Islamic Religious Information at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Muchlis M. Hanafi, in a written statement on Friday (31/07/2026).

The National Prayer and Dhikr event is scheduled to take place at Monas on Saturday (01/08/2026), from 17:00 to 21:30 WIB.

“The National Dhikr and Prayer is a moment of togetherness for all elements of the nation to begin the independence commemorations with gratitude to God Almighty. Therefore, we invite all participants to collectively maintain order and solemnity so that this activity proceeds well and leaves a proud impression for us all,” he added.
