Drivers Advised to Avoid GBK Area Amid National Team Match and Indonesia Open
The Traffic and Accident Prevention Unit (Ditlantas) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has advised the public to avoid the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area in Senayan, Jakarta, to anticipate potential traffic congestion. This advisory is issued due to the high volume of events being held within the GBK complex this weekend, including the match between the Indonesian National Team and Oman at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) on Friday night.
“In connection with the series of large-scale events taking place simultaneously at Gelora Bung Karno, heavy traffic density is expected around the Senayan area, Central Jakarta,” stated the @tmcpoldametro Instagram account on Friday. In addition to the national team match, the Indonesia Open badminton championship is currently being held at Istora Senayan, alongside the Indonesia Outdoor Festival at the JCC.
Consequently, the public is encouraged to avoid the GBK area and seek alternative routes to bypass congestion. Furthermore, those travelling to the GBK area are advised to use public transport, given the limited availability of parking spaces. “Road users are advised to use alternative routes and follow the instructions and directions of officers on the ground to ensure smooth traffic flow for everyone,” the police added.
Other major events scheduled in the GBK area this weekend include the EXO Planet #6 EXhOrizon in Jakarta concert at the Indonesia Arena, Raisa’s ‘Love and Let Go’ concert at the JICC Plenary Hall, the 10 Year Reality Club celebration at the Basketball Arena, the PUBG Mobile Global Grand Finals at the Tennis Indoor, Indofest 2026 at JICC Hall B, and a JKT48 concert in front of FX Sudirman.
