JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The driver of a Toyota Calya who was attacked by a mob for driving against traffic on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, underwent a urine test at the Central Jakarta Police headquarters on Wednesday (25/2/2026) evening.

Central Jakarta Police Chief, Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, said that the urine test was conducted after the driver, identified only by his initials HM, was brought to the police station.

“We conducted a check, specifically a urine test and a health check, on the driver,” Reynold told reporters at the Tanah Abang Police Station on Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Reynold then explained the chronology of the incident, which occurred at 5:20 PM.

Initially, the car driven by HM was traveling from north to south on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

“Upon reaching near the Lapangan Banteng bus stop, when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it continued to move and proceeded south on Jalan Gunung Sahari,” Reynold continued.

The vehicle then turned left onto Jalan Gunung Sahari IV and continued to Jalan Bungur Besar Raya, heading north to Jalan Gunung Sahari V.

The car then turned left, driving against traffic on Jalan Gunung Sahari V, heading east towards the intersection of the Menara Bidakara Alfa Land (MBAL) traffic light, and continued on Jalan Dr. Sutomo, heading east.

“Upon reaching near the Bintang Baru Hotel, the vehicle turned around, heading west, and returned to the MBAL intersection. It then turned left onto Jalan Gunung Sahari, heading north,” Reynold said.

The car finally stopped after being attacked by other road users and drivers.

The vehicle and the driver, along with one female passenger, were taken to the Central Jakarta Police headquarters.

“The car, with license plate number D-1640-AHB, sustained damage to the rear body, broken windows, and a dented front body,” Reynold said.

“The preliminary suspicion regarding the cause of the accident is still under investigation. There were no fatalities as a result of this incident,” he added.
