Police have confirmed that a woman identified by the initials HP (35), who crashed into the fence of the residence belonging to a child of Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) on Jalan Brawijaya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, has agreed to pay compensation.

Head of Public Relations at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kompol Murodih, said the compensation agreement was reached during a mediation session held on Wednesday (18 February).

“Yesterday, the victim’s side and the driver held a mediation session. The victim was represented. The outcome is that the driver wishes to repair the damage at the location. The interim amount for repairs is approximately Rp25 million,” Murodih told reporters on Thursday (19 February).

On that basis, Murodih explained that the investigation into the crash has been temporarily suspended, as mediation has taken place and no formal report has been filed by the victim.

“The case has been temporarily halted at that point, because there was mediation and the victim’s side did not file a report,” he said.

Previously, a car driven by HP crashed into the fence of JK’s child’s house on Jalan Brawijaya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (18 February) morning.

“It is correct that we received information about the incident involving the crashing of the house fence. It occurred in the early morning hours, at approximately 3.45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time,” Murodih told reporters.

Murodih suspected the incident occurred because the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, lost control, and the Hyundai Santa Fe she was driving struck the house fence.

“The driver was probably drowsy, so she went out of control,” he said.

Furthermore, Murodih confirmed there were no casualties in the incident. He also noted that the driver would undertake mediation to repair the damage to the fence.
