Driver Who Blocked Ambulance Carrying Critical Patient in Solo Apologises
A video showing an ambulance carrying a critical patient being obstructed by a white car on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Solo, has gone viral on social media. The driver of the white car, identified as S (79), has apologised and been issued a traffic fine by the police.
“It is true (the driver was fined). We are imposing sanctions in accordance with the regulations,” said the Head of Traffic Law Enforcement, AKP Kurnode Kurniawan Triatmojo, of the Solo City Police, as reported on Monday (21/09/2026).
Wirawan, the Chairman of the Saber Volunteers, stated that during mediation, the driver claimed he did not hear the ambulance’s siren approaching from behind, which resulted in him failing to yield the right of way. He offered several pieces of advice to S.
“We told him not to let this happen again. If you are no longer fit to drive, do not force yourself. If you cannot even hear an ambulance siren that loud, you certainly won’t hear a motorcycle horn. Secondly, driving in such a state endangers other road users,” said Wirawan.
Both parties subsequently signed a written statement. Wirawan also shared a video of S’s apology to the ambulance driver following the incident.
“First, I wish to apologise. I truly did not do this intentionally. I did not hear it, I swear by Allah. I ask for your forgiveness. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me; may the Almighty grant you blessings. I really did not do this on purpose; I am old, it was unintentional, I thought the road was safe,” said S in the clarification video provided by Wirawan.
It was previously reported that a white car allegedly obstructed the progress of an ambulance transporting an emergency patient on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Solo. Wirawan, the Chairman of the Saber volunteers and the ambulance driver, noted that the car even appeared to slow down intentionally.
